Working on front pages

I added some intertextual references the films Titanic and Barbie as I had mentioned on the contents page. I've readjusted the position of my text on the front page so that there's maximum space in the middle of the page so they key image stands out the most.

Contents page continued

After printing off my previous design of contents page, I realised the image of the girl on the right looked too big in proportion to everything else. I decided to change the layout to maximise the space on the page and make it into 3 columns. I changed some features to make it more obvious that it is the first and second edition of the magazine as well as including some intertextual references the the Barbie movie. In the film Barbie says"It is the best day ever. So was yesterday, and so is tomorrow, and every day from now until forever". I believe this film will be relevant and within the cultural competency of my intended demographic. Similarly with the Titanic film, despite not coming out during the lives of my demographic, it is an easily recognisable classic film and the references are known to the media literate audience.

Making changes to contents page

I spent this lesson making amendments to my contents page. I've added more pictures in the film strip and added an icon seen on both contents pages with a picture of the editor. I also added the strapline "on your screen" on the contents page as it appears on the front page to make the magazine easily recognisable and have a strong sense of brand identity throughout my products, including the website.
